Gambit is one of Fluent, Inc.'s preprocessors used for building and analyzing a flow model.
General Notes for Running Gambit at CTC
- Interactive access to Gambit (and Fluent) is available in the collaboratory (651 Rhodes Hall). It is important to follow the instructions below. Otherwise gambit is likely to fail. Do not use explore to navigate to the directory containing gambit.
To run Gambit:
- open up a command prompt
- execute the setup file by issuing the command
- call setup_gambit.bat
This sets the appropriate path and other environment variables.
- CD to the desired working directory. (Do not work in the FLUENT.INC directory.)
- Type: gambit filename (where filename is any name you decide on)
Exceed will open up briefly and then it will minimize on the taskbar. When you are finished with your GAMBIT session click on the File menu, Exit. Do not shut down Exceed first.
- FYI, GAMBIT must be started from a Command Prompt. Shortcuts placed on the Desktop will eventually fail so it is recommended that you always follow the above procedure for starting GAMBIT. (From Fluent, Inc.'s web pages)
- Some software products from Fluent, Inc. may encounter problems if directory names or files contain blank spaces. Therefore, do not select such names for files and directories with which Gambit will interact. (Reference: Fluent Installation Guide)
Running in BatchWe do not yet have an example .bat file for submitting a batch job. If you need to run Gambit in batch, please send email to
consult@tc.cornell.edu and a consultant will be happy to work with you to get your batch job running.
