2.1 Shell Commands
  • cygcheck - utility to check the versions and environment
  • which exist in bash and tcsh. Same functionality available by issuing type.
  • more is not present in either shell, but the less command is.
  • Comparing Unix with Windows 2003, see Command Equivalents.

Note: Most of the Cygwin tools can run properly in Windows 2003 "cmd" command windows without invoking any UNIX-like shell.
