What are the main advantages of the new scheduler?
- Parallel job cleanup
- Integrated security (no password files)
Is there anything I can do now that will be unavailable in the new scheduler? No. All current features are included.
Will I have to change my programs? No, only your batch scripts.
What kinds of changes will I have to make? Your batch scripts will require minor changes.
Will I make batch queries the same way? Yes, the queries will be similar. In addition, there will be a web interface.
Will there be a user testing period? Very limited. However, it will be tested extensively by staff, and we will provide additional consulting help when we convert.
When will it be available? The new scheduler is currently being tested. We expect to have the new scheduler in production first quarter 2006.
