The Civil War Letters of Galutia York - Galutia York was the 19-year old son of a farm family from Hubbardsville in Madison County, New York. He enlisted in the 114th NYSV in August of 1862 and served until May of 1863 when he died in Louisiana. This is an absolutely wonderful collection of letters.

Any Day: Today-in-History - There are no end of calendars online that offer information about what happened on a certain day in history, but this has one of the simplest interfaces and most complete listings. Contains sections such as birthdays, deaths, missing in action, events, holidays, and religious events of the day. Great for trivia buffs and fact finders alike.
